Team Nederland Roller Derby unites the Netherlands’ top roller derby skaters to compete on the world stage and represent the nation as members of the 2025 World Cup charter. Our aim is to unite our unique skills, talents, and passion for the sport to engage in high-level gameplay with other national teams from across the globe.
The current team consists of a charter of 20 skaters and 6 reserves. We represent 10 different leagues from across the country. Currently, we are preparing for participation in the fourth Roller Derby World Cup, which will take place in Innsbruck from 3 to 6 July 2025.

These skaters meet monthly to train together, in addition to playing games and scrimmages against other–mostly national teams. They also work behind the scenes on marketing, merchandise, and fundraising for the team. Since roller derby is traditionally a DIY sport, skaters are collectively responsible for these tasks, in addition to self-funding their gear, travel, and dues.
Roller derby is both a young sport as well as one with a long history. Contemporary roller derby is an amateur sport pioneered by women. The sport has a strong do-it-yourself ethos, and diversity, inclusion, and self-determination are at the forefront.
Roller derby is a full contact sport on roller skates in which one skater per team scores points by passing opponents. Physical contact, speed, strength and strategy are at the heart of the game, which includes elements reminiscent of rugby, ice hockey and short track speed skating.
